You truly have captured the right mood here, one of being left alone, in the dark with the light seemingly hard to reach. The open door beckoning but you being too disconsolate to reach it. (thank you for your visit to my portfolio and comments)

Speechless...The sepia tone, the distribution of shadows and light as well as the tunnel impression of a non-tunnel and all the rest make the photo a masterpiece! So strong the sense of abandonment (what have you done to her?)
As I say in one of my portfolios "mirrors are doors"...Could it be that doors are mirrors in your case? Mirrors of our soul? She leaves because someone did something that causes her leaving. This someone gets the info that something is wrong by means of her departure! This can be the opposite of Jean Cocteau's extract I used (Spiegel Sind Türen ).
He said "Mirrors are doors that through which the Goddess of Death comes and goes..." All acts that cause pain bring us close to our self's deepest essence, everything is an indication...

The photo and the title tell a story, I don?t know if it really happened to you, but this shot transmits just this sensation, the door she did not close, the darkness left behind her and the melancholy toning of the image create a very strong atmosphere, a bit sad too, one more time I don?t like the white frame, it distracts me a lot and it decreases the tension of the photo, in my opinion of course. Bye, Max

Hi Patrick, nice composition, and the black fades well away into the frame. Very intersting series, and good use of dark tones to create an atmosphere.

I do believe some more tonal differences and details in the shady part would add alot to this shot, create a stronger feel for dimensions and possiby increase the impact.

Cheers,

Hugo

I agree with Jeanette Hägglund, I would love to see the shot from a lower angle, right from the floor.
Anyway, I love the way it is right now... Incredible mood in it, I can even hear her footsteps... and the composition is just perfect.
Love it.
By the way, who's the girl who left you?? Is she crazy??? she will miss an incredible photographer!!!!!!

I agree that the feeling is not of sorrow, but perhaps liberation?

i really like this patrick, i think the best of your 'tunnel light' shots (even though technically it's not a tunnel). the concentrated light and dark are good especially in sepiatone rather than strick b&w. i can almost feel the wind off her back coming through the door as she's left you. gorgeous.

My, my Patrick... Very nice! Great feeling of loss. I believe your choice of sepia for this one was wonderful. Provides a view that is timeless, i.e., no specific generation or year. I like the bright light to the right of the tree, providing for the feeling of the unknown... I know you only wanted critiques, but this is a 7+

Cheers,

Bill

I like the rather ghostly feel, but not a creepy one more of a warm feeling. It's as if a loved one who has passed on had come for a visit, and now has to leave, but instead of sorrow there is joy. I think that the next time you go to visit, you could get a person passing in front of the door(as you had mentioned), to further emphasize the feeling. Keep up the work my friend~

Thanks alot my friend for your comment and analyze! Im not that tall.. its the wide lens that give his effect.. hehe. I noticed that as well.. looks like im standing from above! Great idea though you gave me to try to sit down for some new angles and perspectives.. I will go back there again for sure and try out some different styles. Will try getting someone to pass there as well.. hehe

Thanks!

Excellent again Patrick. Perfect with sephia. Nice light and shadows.
How would it be if you try with a lower angle. I can see that you are tall by looking at your image.
Alltså, ett förslag. Det skulle vara hemskt snyggt med tegelstenarna (stenarna) nära och kameran riktad snett uppåt, och den där fantastiska lampan måste du få med helt och hållet - skuggan av den. Prova i alla fall.

:) Keep it my friend!
