Dear Jeff, you know what I like most at your image? the fact, although the pic is b/w, I CAN smell her blonde hair, I can almost touch her red lips, I can easily imagine what the full frame Alex looks like.

ha... i certainly like the contradiction between the retro style and the tongue piercing... the expression on her face is simply awesome... very spontaneous.... you know i like the lighting and the tonal range (IMPO the background should have been black... but you also know that :)...)... a great portrait!!!! emy

Wow Carol!
You must be reading my mind, that is one of the poses I was envisioning. Keep the lighting simple, one light, one reflector. If I use a fan, maybe in addition to flash, I'll try hot lights for this pose so the hair would be slightly blurred showing movement. At 1/125 sec or maybe 1/60 sec, the blurred hair should be just enough to show wispy movement without going too blurry.
I also envision some shots with Alex and Melissa together. Melissa is another natural beauty that I would love to shoot in her natural state (Karen Clarke mentioned she would love to see Melissa's natural beauty) and since Alex is going to be Melissa's sister-in-law, it should be easy to get them together.
As I told you Carol, you do inspire me and your enthusiasm is infectious. I guess I need a spark every now and then to get my mind off my problems. The only bummer is my current situation (and you know what it is) may prevent me from pursuing this now - however, I will call them tonight and run it by them, at least to set up a shoot either within the next week or sometime in November when my situation gets more stable (hopefully).

Actually Patrick, I always like this photo but never posted it because of the tongue-piercing. With this technique - as you said - it seemed to work with this photo. Thank you for your comment.

Very funny shot.. looks old until you see the piercing thing in her tounge. Very different.. almost hardcore in someway. Could fit into a newspaper doing the 2004 Marilyn Monroe!! =)

ask Her is she would pose ..straight hair no makeup in just a long mans white button down shirt...a few buttons open at the top for tease effect...she really has the perfect girl next door look. Anyway, Just for my curiosity!

I agree, Alex is very pretty without makeup also (when she came for the shoot, she wasn't wearing any), she is such a natural beauty and I would love to shoot her in a more natural state. This shoot, she was emulating a '50s look - specifically a sort of Marilyn Monroe look. She is an actor so the shoot was about characters. I should look into that to see if she is willing. Thanks for the idea.

Jeff. I would really love to see Alex stripped clean no lipstick no hair done up and just shot all natural? maybe just a soft wind machine on her hair... Do you think she would go for that?
I am just curious to see behind all the mnakeup..
