About The crucifix that's mounted to the wall behind the altar / table in our local parish church. It's not an accurate depiction, of course, Christ would have been virtually naked when He was crucified ~ not dressed up in a nice robe with a crown on His head!!

I'm afraid I can't tell you what all the letters mean, I've really no idea ~ apart from those at the bottom, of course. But the important thing is that I know why it all happened.

This morning I have to speak on 'the importance of the Resurrection'. As I finish my talk, I shall tell this story?

At the end of an hour-long tirade against Christianity, at an anti-God rally, Nikolai Bukharin, a communist theoretician, invited questions. A priest of the Orthodox Church asked if he may speak?

He stood beside Bukharin, faced the great sea of faces and simply said: ?Christ is risen!? Instantly, the whole crowd rose to its feet and thundered, ?He is risen indeed!?

There was no reply from the communist. There couldn?t be! When all the protests have been heard and the arguments are over the glorious fact remains ~ ?He is risen!?

That's my deep conviction ~ I'm looking forward to sharing it this morning.

However you spend your Sunday, I hope it's a good one!

Best regards, Chris

Thank you so much for your kind comment, Evan, and for the trouble you took to discover the meaning of the letters on the crucifix! Much appreciated!
Kind regards,
Chris

What a great crucifix! and a fantastic capture of it.

It is one of the nicer "Christus Rex" (Christ the King) type of crucifix that I have seen. I decided to find out what the letters meant so I did a search.
INRI = jesus Christ King of the Jews (GREEK)
IC XC = Jsusu Christ(GREEK) NIKA = Victor (GREEK)

Peace and all good
Evan
