About This photo is untouched other than sizing. I purposely didn't even use auto levels so that it stand on its own as is. We took a trip over the weekend and found an abandoned Restaurant/Motel with many out buildings. I was drawn to it and ended up going inside... yes even in the basement. Nothing felt evil here, yet there was pain. Yeah, yeah sounds nuts, but the picture stands on its own merit. I was not smoking. There were no reflections as this place is all boarded up. I will post more, but understand this was taken in complete darkness (other than my flash). Finally I have irreputeable proof, even if it is to myself. On my mother's grave this photo is unchanged and original.

I was once a skeptic but have had a few too many weird things happen that make me think twice. I believe you and since the next pic taken seconds later shows nothing, it is hard to dismiss this. A very thought provoking capture. There have always been weird sounds in my son's bedroom which is now the computer room. Only this room photographs orbs. Every once in a while our bathroom taps come on full blast during the night. They are the type you have to pull up to turn on, no handles to turn. Strange without reasonable explanation. Most of us disbelieve what we can't explain but if you stop and think of the sheer miracle of humans in and of itself, why then could there not be something more out there.

All dimensions are inhabited, no wonder how at a particular moment the apparition was more visible to your camera's eye easier. Of course it might be a fibre, but on the other hand the same possibilities you have to have had a glimpse in the invisible world!

For those who are not so sure as to what is here may I interject some info. I was at the location with Rose and we were both taking pics. My camera would not work half the time, the flash would go off yet no image was captured as in even the room just nothing. Also my autofocus would read anywhere from 2" to 13' and there was nothing in the way. This place is very interesting to say the least. and every building we were able to gain access to with out breaking in had no dust or cobwebs or even dead insects. and we have found out it has been abandond for meany years. Go figure, I for one plan a return trip.

Rose: I shoot on film and do my own lab work. Many times I have had strange objects appear in my shots. It is amazing what dust, water drops, hair, skin flakes, lint, finger prints, light leaks, lens flare, can apear to be when magnified. the more I study your photo the more I see a curly piece of out of focus fiber. It is defintatly from the material world. However, I can't prove it. It is also amazing what our brains can come up with when we don't understand something like this or a weird noise in the night. On the other side of the coin I have had spiritual things happen in my life that I have to admit are better left unexplained. WHat you have here is a photo that is fun to talk about and debate over. We'll never know the truth. I know, lets go back and camp the night in there. first one to run out screeming has to buy breakfast :-)

Hey, I totally understand. I myself slowly went through a gambit of what-could-it-be's. If I hadn't taken the second shot immediately after, I might agree. These were taken at arms length and rather quickly. I hesitate to mention that this place was creepy... you must see that yourself. I really didn't want to linger. Because they were taken in total darkness give or take a smidgen of light underneath the board I hadn't even noticed the smoke-like ahem "whatever you want to call it" until I viewed the pictures in the safe sanctuary of my van.

Sceptic here. However your story does raise a goose bump or two. Looks to be some type of out of focus fiberous material in front of the lens. Perhaps hair? There is a definate curl or loop in the bottom third of the shot. you used a fairly small apature because the DOF is deep, the aberation is very much in the foreground. It is the only thing in the shot that is out of focus. I think you had some Sh.t on your lens or very close to it. Or, you spooked casper right out of the room and he did a loop the loop on the way out...

Ah, yes - the spectral housekeeper, passed on suddenly while trying to clean hard water spots from yet another shower stall ... :-] .. Sorry, just teasing. A very interesting and thought provoking photograph. A sadness here, too, regardless of any non-corporeal presences, that all abandoned buildings share. One day someone made up the bed in one of those rooms and ran a mop over the floor never realizing, perhaps, that it was the last time.

Jon "worked my way through university as a housekeeper and have never waxed a floor since" O'Brien

As comparison, and this is the real kicker, I had problems getting the camera to take that first shot, so I immediately took another... the presence is gone
