It is like the radio. When you can hear the cephalopods wrapping their arms around the news readers (the news readers deny this). You can't see them on the radio but of course they can be heard and this sparks the imagination.

Aaah yes. I am familiar with the legend. St George and the Cephalopod. You have left the squid out of this.
Perhaps a deliberate ploy as squids are best left to the imagination.
