Thankyou Kurt. I always enjoy reading your comments. This particular image is actually as you see it, well sort of. It is an image of two separate birds on a perch together. I removed the background and added the doors. These birds are black and white with a hint of dark brown. By turning it to BW it concentrated the viewers eye on the overall composition instead of the birds themselves, therefore portraying the message of the photo.

Thanks Dave. I wanted to try something a little different with the birds.

Judi, this is quite a compelling image. (is this a composite of two shots of the same bird as I assume it to be?)
I like the shadow of the wires from the cage visible on the back of the bird on the left. This seems to represent some sort of captivity, be it avian, human, spiritual, or what have you. He's facing away, with the image of imprisonment overshadowing him, looking through a doorway into the darkness.
On the right hand side, the bird is facing us through the doorway now opened, with the shadows of bondage now removed. He's now got his back to the darkness and facing the bright light of freedom.
Maybe I'm reading too much into this, Judi, but I don't think so. You deliberately chose to make this image B&W so we are not distracted by the color of these marvellous creatures, but instead are forced to concentrate on the form and composition which give meaning to this work.
You've given us many pretty pictures of your beautiful birds. With this, you've given us a glimpse of your beautiful insight. Kurt

Very nice presentation, Judi! I like the b/w for this unusual shot.
Sorry to hear about your fruit groves, though.
Dave.
