If you see this picture ( http://www.usefilm.com/image/587046.html ) which was taken at the same time, you'll get a good sense of the available light. The sun was shining on this side of the undersection of the bridge. A good lens (Canon L) and a steady hand (1/45 - more difficult with SLR than old rangefinder) also helps - but you should know that if you are using Leica glass ;-)
I like to shoot digital pictures in the RAW format wherever possible as that allows maximum recoverability. That said, this really required little work. I think the image is relatively new, I only noticed it the week before I shot this and that's why I went back with my camera.
