Hi Patrick,
This is an AWESOME photograph! Perfect in every way. With a sky like this, you can't go wrong, then to have the inclusion of boat, very NICE.

I like the composition very much, tight, especially since there was a chain link fence around it.

Very nice work, and I prefer the color image!!
Lori ;)

Hi Patrick, as the ship wreck absorbs more of the attention, I do agree that this one is even more dramatic than the previous one. Very well captured, and a very strong image. I think the yellow tones in the sky are essential to make this one tick; In all fairness, I don't think the B&W version comes even close to the original; it's a bit forced, I think.... (Good choice!)

Cheers,

Hugo

Wonderful sky and boat silhouette setting off an extremely dramatic mood. The colours in the sky tapering off to a golden sunset are gorgeous.

Hmmm... Well Patrick, this time I believe the B&W doesn't do the justice that the color version does... B&W is dramatic, but loses something, especially just above the horizon where the "golden" sky peeks through...

cheers,

Bill

Hi patrick,

very cool one again. you seem to pile up a lot of interest at the moment. 55 comments, that's a LOT of feedback.

would definitely go for the color version, my friend. the BW one is too dark for me. and this means a lot as I'm a fan of dark images ;-)

very frightening silhouette.

take care,
Thilo

Patrick: I think the B&W image is more appropriate to the subject matter. The textures and values become dominant and assert the shape of the boat more.

Patrick,
Comparing the two versions (first and second ending), I think the sky is caught much more impressively in the second. You can see the full height from the blue gap in the clouds to the yellow on the horizon.
However I do like the overall composition in the first one very much. The wasted looking buildings in the background added to the effect nicely.
Regards,
omar

Hi Patrick,
the version B&W is more dramatic, but the color of the sky, the same of the sea, are more appropriated with the subject!

Im glad you liked it Heath! =) Didnt you get the answer i sent you about the lens?

The 12-24mm lens is great.. but if i could change my mind i would go for the 14mm instead. The 2.8 is way better then the 4.5-5.6. Even my Tamron SP 90mm F/2.8 Di has better sharpness, colors then the 12-24. The 12-24 has a superb buildquality.. thats worth alot i think. =)
