About I've agonized over the rotation of this image but finally settled on this version... Some of you commented that you rather not see this explained, maybe because a rational understanding of the technique etc would detract from the enjoyment of the image. This brings me to a little dilemma: I will be showing some of my other refraction work soon (small cafe-style exhibit) and I'd like to provide the viewer with an idea of where these images come from without over-explaining the technique. Any suggestsion as how to balance those criteria would be very much appreciated. As always - thanks for stopping by.

small medusas are flowing gently... another great abstract that leaves space for a lot of interpretations... as for sharing the technique... personally not only am i not distracted from the beauty of the image but also feel gratefull for sharing it with us and thus opening our minds to new experimentations... beautiful work... emy

Thanks Bill - I like the idea of extracting an interpretation from a group of images. I'll keep that in mind when I put together the pieces to show.

I like the diagonal flow to this one. I guess it actually creates a sense of motion which I find compelling.

As for the experimentation - it is exactly the way Picasso worked - many variations on the same process. So there would be an evolution that the viewers can see for themselves. The explanation becomes less important to the theme.

Regards, Bill

don't tell! besides the beauty of these pictures, the mystery of how you did these photographs also adds to the mystique. as a viewer, i would want to 'own' the image not just for its' beauty, but knowing that it's buying a bit of mystery. also, i think that i have just viewed my favourite of the series. thanks stefan. :) btw, if these ever go on 'international' sale, i'd be interested.

maybe the best thing would be something like a (very) short movie (flash or avi or whatever) displayed on a monitor showing the people how you manipulate and handle your glass pieces and the laser pointer, etc. -i.e. the magician at work...
as I commented undre the former picture, showing patt of the creation (i.e. even only the glass object you used, quits a lot of its magic, imho... got the same problem with my poor experiments).
and this one is like plotted by ghosts in their effort to draw a short sketch of imaginary abstract transpersonalities
:)))
(maybe you should exercise some kind of spiritism inaugurating your exhibition, as well??)

Excellent Stefan, I agree with Kostas on this. I like to read a little about how the picture was created or taken ... the "about" gives other users helpful Ideas.

getting more info about the process that resulted in such a beautiful image doesn't make it any less appealing and admirable, for me ;-)
