About
Cranked down the f-stop just a little to narrow the DOF. I haven't adjusted the shadows and not sure that would add to the photo. What a great game Rugby is!
As an ex-junior club player, these are great images but I am really envious of the fine weather. I have an old shot from a newspaper in Wales, taken in winter on a cold day, where you can see the steam rising from the formed scrum. The dressing room is also great for candid shots on bad weather days.
Rugby in bad weather can create some great images, but you have to be more careful with your gear :)
Dan, yet another great action shot, I feel stupid even trying to comment on most of your shots because they all are great action shots. As far as this shot goes, it?s perfectly focused on the subject (the action). His expression looks very dangerous considering he could loose that tongue if somebody bowled him over at that exact second. It?s a rough sport as you graphically described in your past photo, the one with the gash on some guys head, which was more of a sports reference shot compared to this. I could suggest that you should have composed it with his legs in the photo to ground him or whatever, but I think that would take away from the detail of the shot as well as water down the impact of this shot, it?s got nervousness to it, desperation. Technical aspects aside, it?s the skill it took you to get into position, get the exposure/focus correct, then wait until you seen this shot. It?s outstanding action photography Dan. Your very good at this and you have the right equipment for the job. Like I said above, I don?t feel qualified to comment your photos in detail; usually I?ll just look at them and rate them. Just so you know, I?m lurking and rating without comments LOL. Nice job Dan, you have the best action shots on usefilm. Honestly, ~Mike
