About This is an image looking down Derwent Water in the English Lake District. The image was captured about three quarters of an hour after dawn as the sun began to creep above the fells to the left and light the foreground tree roots and the distant fells on the right. I used 3 stops of soft ND grad to balance the exposure between the land and sky and to bring out the detail in the clouds. This would have been difficult if the trees to the left were more directly lit but because they are in shadow, the graduated filter had little effect on them.

Spectacular colours Barry and nicely exposed. Maybe a little contrasty for my tastes, but I suppose that's the nature of slide film and the low angle of the sun. Great shot nonetheless.

The wonderfully dramatic sky finds its complement inth e dynamically curved roots in the forefront. Very captivating shot. WOnderful how the sun reflection on the distant mountain add another magnetical point for the eye. Well done, indeed. Best regards Jorg
