You have a good point, Jonathan. I am wondering now if I might have shifted the focus to a little behind my subject. I know that I did some post on her face to remove shadows, so this may have softened the edges a bit.
Thanks for taking a close look. The background could have been softer. I remember that there was a hurricane on the way and I was going for quantity and not being too analytical, because my model was getting ready to go back north when we were finished.
But it is never too late for more post.

Nicely captured expression (rather enigmatic, as the title suggests) and lovely subject. I firmly believe that content is more important than technique and you may not have had time to plan this - but if I may comment on the nuts & bolts: I think it would have looked better with a wider aperture (to narrow the DoF and make her stand out from the background) and a shorter exposure (to avoid the slight movement blur of her eyes and hair).

Great to hear from you again, Alison. I love your interpretation.
The model is very comfortable in front of the camera. She has had a spark ever since I first photographed her as a toddler.
We are working on her portfolio, now that she is serious about modeling.

I worked on the colors - especially the flesh tone and she had a lot of hair blowing in her face which took ages to remove pixel be pixel, so I am glad you like the end result.
