About Hello everyone! Its my first firework image!! :D
Last night i tried taking firework pictures and realized how hard it really is!! :-\
I took about 20 pictures and this is the best of the bunch!
Some were over exposed others were good but the sky was full of smoke!!!
or in the worse scenario half of the firework bursts were not included in the frame!!!!!
How could u predict the size of the firework or where it will burst?
Any tips of how to take fireworks images?

PS work: added contrast, cropped some extra black space on the left side, resized and framed
Honest feedback needed!

Shutter speed 17.7 sec

thanx lee! Your comment means a lot to me :)
I did shoot lots of fire works but the main problem was the right white balance and shutter speed
Heres one of the pictures that weren?t so good ;)
thanx again

wow! this is a really great firework shot, hard to believe its one of your first!! such beautiful colors! i like the fact that some of the fireworks are cut off...it can be hard to get entire firework in the frame, i guess you just have to be quick or lucky! i've uploaded a few i've had luck with as well. your whole portfolio is really nice!! My honest feedback on this image is that I think this is very good....
The colors are vibrant and I don't think the top being cut off hurt this composition at all.
I shot my first fireworks display this year and I didn't get anything this nice.
Crisp image and I would be happy to have this in my portfolio.
Well done.

very nice firework Arwa. I did lots of firework shoot last august in Geneva. luckyly there were three firework events in that august in Geneva, so I kind of practiced in the first time.
the trick I used were :
- try to find the best spot (I was looking for the spot 3 hours before the fireworks started ).
- to study the rythme of the fireworks (if possible)
- to use bulb, cable shutter release
- click the shutter when the fire start going up, and release the shutter when it was blooming.
- use small aperture, at least f/8. if possible to use f/10 or f/11.
Here one of my result. with 13s, f/11 (I will upload later for bigger )
it's fun taking fireworks shots, if only we could do there more often . too bad there will be no fireworks in new year in Geneva :(

Thank you hugo!!!
you'll defiantly see more!!!
All those nice comments really made me believe that its actually a good image

Theres this trick also that I've read on an arabic photographic forum, that suggests using Bulb and placing a piece of black paper between each firework and the result would be a sky filled with different bursts!
Cant wait to try it! don?t know when the next fireworks would be but when ever they come im ready! They always play them by the beach and I could capture them from my balcony like this shot! ;)
LOL i talk too much!!!!!
thanx again

Hi Arwa, Awesome shot, the exposure is excellent. It's very difficult, and I'd be very happy if only one out of 20 of mine would've come out like this. Not only well exposed, but also well composed. I'd love to see more of this!

Cheers,

Hugo
