I am still stuck lol

Possibly the Eid in favour of Dusk II ?

While everyone is still commenting on them I would wait a little longer and count the votes lol

Best wishes,
Steve

Congratulations!!
Wow a photography contest at work!! that?s so cool! Talk about motivating employees ;)
Wish I could post three images LOL
that?s something that I really LOVE about UF! you can post as many pics as u want in each project! Great practice! ;)
unluckily I cant post the dusk one
Do u think dusk II is good enough or is the eid in color one better??

Arrgghh !!! This is so difficult Arwa, I entered a competition at work and could not decide which photos to submit (maximum of 3 per category).

In the end I through the photos on a table and walked away for 10minutes letting my friends decide for me lol

Surprisingly, the presentation was today and I won a category !!!

I still like the ~Dusk~ and wondered if it is not too late to take it off the other site ? But again, I like this one also, your toning is exceptional.

I'm as stuck for choice as you are .... sorry !!

Best wishes,
Steve

Hello lee! :)
Thank you so much for your encouraging words!!
I checked my profile in that website and realized that I did post the pic of my brother with the sculpture over there already!:-\
the second rule says that "Photographs which have been previously submitted in the forums for viewing cannot be used in the contest."

I talked to another member over there and he said that they do disqualify images that have been posted b4 which is fair! :) you don?t want people to vote just because they like you instead of really critiquing the image and selecting the best image! ;)
so guess i'll join with the colored Eid pic

Hi Arwa, you make it hard to decide for the best all of them are great ,but the one with the silhoutted children is in my opinion thr very best, the setting is very very nice and color adds alot here
Many thanks for commenting "Invitation to walk"
I added you to my friends list

To start off I think that they all are very good...very good indeed.
For my personal taste I like the boy looking up, this is a shot that you just don't see. I do agree that a bit off the top helps this image a bit.
Tough decision for you as they are all good.
Good luck in the contest and I hope you win.
Lee

it's not too dark, it's perfect. and the other also so beautiful Arwa. even the judge will have difficulties to decide among your pictures only. I think the color version of the one you posted is very good. anyway, go for it, good luck, wish you the best

Kristina Kohut   {K:49990} 11/22/2004
Arwa, I have now been looking and looking and looking... and it's really so hard to chose one, when all are so beautiful!

SEA PHOTO: Amazing colours, details, feeling and light... but perhaps not a composition that reaches that feeling of being extra special.

PLAYGROUND IN COLOUR: Soooo wonderful! I love the composition, the feeling, the amazing colours... but someone wrote that foreground colour could be lighter, and I realized that it's probably true.

LIGHT POLE: Oh this is a lovely shot! I think I have commented it before. It's wonderful feeling and colours/light is so nice!

FIRE WORK: Fantastic quality and very very good details! Perfect firework photo, but it hasn't got anything mystical or original about it that they usually want in competitions.

PLAYGROUND B&W: Normally I prefer colour photos, I don't know why. But this photo... I think I actually prefer it in b&w, even though I do find the colours beautiful in the colour version. In b&w there is some kind of interesting mystique... hard to describe... but... YES! I decided now, I think I chose playground in b&w!

Good luck, and let us know which you chose in the end!

Now you are one creative one... for sure!

My vote goes to 'Eid in BW' (not that the others are not... worth every consideration)

The only item is that there appears to be a lot of pixelation... in the sumission, and so suggest go back to the original (largest file) sharpen, then reduce 75% sharpen again, then 50% sharpen again... and then reduce to the final size required for the competion...

May you have every good fortune!

I like the image of the boy with this whatever-that-is tower. I really like the B&W but I'm struggling with the subject. Nothing wrong with a playground under the moon; just my two cents.
Very nice atmosphere on the B&W one.

Hi Arwa,

the banding can be seen in the sky (at least at my superb LCD at home). It does occur sometimes when you use filtering tools like neat image in combination with a soft toning transition from dark to bright.

Take care,
Thilo

I vote for the first one (the sea one), but since you can't post this, then my next vote is the last one (the boy), and then my last one is the main post (the BW of the kids playing).

Very effective Arwa. I like it ;)

Craig Hanson   {K:7836} 11/21/2004
Arwa, they are all excellent. My choice is the original one you posted (Eid in B&W). It is the most mysterious and original of them all. I love the ghost like appearance of the children which is emphasized by your use of b&w.

The one with the boy is also very fine and made with feeling, but I think I would crop off some of the empty sky at the top to improve the impact.

The ocean shot, although very good, is not so original and I think the lights in the upper right should either be given more prominence or left out all together.

Good luck with your competition!

Craig

Hello thilo sorry about your modem ;)
I didn?t quite get what your saying the grain/banding in the sky? what dose it means? guess your right about the foreground, I did add the contrast in PS trying to make the silhouette clearer but then it effective the brightness of the foreground!
I cant post the first one its against the rules at that site, never join the contest with an image you've already posted at the forum
Thanx for passing by :)

arwa abdullah   {K:34415} 11/21/2004
hehhee it is helpful lori! :)
you limited down the choices to 2 pictures, But then Armando liked the one with my brother and gorge recommended the eid colored one! looool and we're back to were we started!!!
I wanted to post the rocks with long exposure but you right maybe there will be lots of similar images! plus its against the rules to join with an image that was posted on their website b4, so guess they wont let it join :-\
Off course these r not the only choices im waiting for a nice windy day to take a picture of a restaurant that?s on the sea side and its build in a way that it looks like a seashell! That would be cool ;)
The dead line is on the 25th of November

Lori Stitt   {K:75282} 11/21/2004
You underestimate yourself arwa!! You are a VERY good photographer!

My choice would be between this black and white one or the color one of same subject, that shows the children not blurred. I think I lean to the black and white. But then I LOVE the color also, sooo......bottom line I'm really not 100% sure, it will be interesting to see how everyone else thinks. I'll come back later to see others' opinions.

I love the water and rocks, but you see so many water and sunset pictures, for me, I like seeing something a bit different!!

I know, my remarks don't help at all, LOL
Good job, (on all of them)
Lori :)

Hi arwa,

oh, you're imposing a lot of pain to my small modem ;-)

I would take the first one. the one you posted is very good in it's BW shape and with the gloomy blur, but the grain/banding in the sky is too heavy for me. and the foreground is definitely a bit too dark for me.

anyway, nice alternative.

take care my dear,
Thilo

George Black George Black   {K:102014} 11/21/2004
This is a lovely shot, and the b/w works very well. Seeing the shot in color, though, makes me think this one could have a slightly brighter foreground.

For the contest, I recommend the first one (seascape) and the color of the b/w.

Well done! Regards
