I'm an *absolute* beginner, so treat this is as much as a question as a comment. But ...
How would it be if you cropped everything down from (and including) the waves? That is, just have all the sky, but only a slice of calm ocean. Maybe include only the first very small partial wave. Different picture, I know, but I like it even more (I used a sheet of card to obscure the bits I wanted cropped).
(No doubt that breaks a ton of "Photography 101" rules. If so, I'd be much obliged to hear them.)
