I am not satisfied that your dissatisfied Joe. It's not good enough. I've seen the results so know it can be done.Great that it opens. Does it say how many bits it is? I see reference to photshop pro not being so well tuned for 14 bit in which case I'd have got one of the freewares like ifranview http://www.irfanview.com/ or dcrw http://www.insflug.org/raw/ http://www.insflug.org/raw/software/download/ I'll look harder but I seem to recall the contrast would be the first thing to set.
(did i say i haven't got a p600 nor have i used raw files yet)

Beautiful image, Joe! Though, line of horizon and point of perspective in the middle divide the picture into four even parts. I cropped it a little, maybe you like it. I had to make new shadow for the bird, the old one was cropped away. Cheers!

would like to thank everyone for their thoughts on this shot. 'funny story' the day before I made a remark to my wife saying I was sort of dissapointed in the fact that I hadn't taken a 'good photo' in quite some time. I had been spending the past few months buying, trying and returning 'new' digit cameras instead. So the next morning I left the house very early, not really knowing where I was going....followed the early 'light' and I guess 'got lucky'.
Once again, thanks to all for the encourangment your comments provided me to continue with a hobby I have loved for most of my life.

Nice shot Joe. Terrfificly serene colour and action. Love your camera by the way. I think it'll be long remembered as a classic. You pulling raw files out of it yet? Heard of that hack?
