I like this blurred effect - the subject blends in the background. It has a very mellow feeling about, one doesn't have to concentrate on the flower itself but the whole photo. Very good idea and defintely one to explore further with other subjects. Nice one!

Hi, Jennifer..:) Thanks for your reply and thorough explanation. Now I understand what your intention is. Perhaps that's because this is the first time I saw your shot, or simply because I am still newbie..:). I like the idea of "looking from a different perspective", because it has a very deep meaning, and teach me how to understand a person's way of communicating. Again, thanks for the lesson. By the way, I've just started my photography class yesterday. Wish me luck...:)
Warmest regards, Hanggan-Indonesia

A real beauty. what is so striking right away, is the fantastic coloration and then the unusual composition, something that you manage to push with success.

hi Hanggan - i often shoot intentionally out-of-focus or with extremely low dof because i find that it can help make the mood or feeling of the piece stronger & more important than the actual details of the subject matter. It is a way, i suppose, of using subject to create something other than or more than just what it is, in how we normally perceive it in our day to day lives. I like the idea of looking at things from a different perspective & seeing what i discover there. But that's just me & my journey & i'm sure it doesn't appeal to a lot of people! Thanks for you query & welcome to Usefilm. :O)

Any specific reason to blur the flower?
