About New Seif Palace is an example of Islamic architecture inlaid with Kuwaiti art derived from its environment. This palace includes three components: the Amiri Divan, the Crown Prince Divan and centres for public utilities. Construction started in 1988, stopped during the Iraqi occupation in August 1990, and was completed in August 1992.

The area of the palace is 450 square kilometers including a dock for grand visitors' yachts, a landing field for helicopters, an artificial lake not affected by tides and equipped with means to make whirlpools to change its waters.

The new Seif Palace is an extension of the old one built between 1907-1908 by Sheikh Mubarak Al-Sabah - the seventh ruler of Kuwait- as the official palace of the State. In 1910, a new wing was built, and in 1919 stairs and inlets were added as well as a facade bearing the immortal phrase:

"If others were able to hold reign forever,

it would not have reached you."

The palace still retains its distinguishing feature, which has made it a shrine of Kuwait's history from the outset of the twentieth century.

Kamran, you have such a rich and wonderful setting there. The color is great on this - was it morning or evening? Looks evening to me... I really love the sky in this too. Nicely done. I wish I was there to take it all in, but I will live vicariously through your photos. Thanks for all the educational "abouts" too. I feel enlightened.

Very nice composition. I like the contrast shape and color get along well with the clear sky above. Good work, Kamran, and thanks for adding me to your friend list.
