I have also found the light to be much better after a rain or on an overcast day then I let the flash fill in. You could also use a spray bottle..ops did I just give away a secret. We have plenty of rain in the northwest and wind.

Thankyou for your interest Ellen, the real advantage of photographing in the rain,is the wonderful soft light....I have had plenty of opportunities lately as it has been raining for weeks!!!!and I must say I have taken full advantage of the situation as wet flowers seem to be my favourite subject!!
