Dottie, there are no stupid questions. Spot metering is a mode of metering that selects a small portion of the scene and sets the exposure for that area. Its found on the professional model slr camera's, be it film, or digital. Jim Gamble

Wow great depth of field Jim and works wellin black and white. I've only tried Ilford Delta and Neopan at the moment but thinking of getting some Agfapan, T-Max and Tri-X to try :)
Keep them coming, I love black and white :)
