Mandy, perhaps you can display everything in sets on one poster. What if...you make a portrait set of 3 or 4, a wedding set, a school pic set, etc. I can't think of a title or category for your husband. His picture is a portrait, so it could go in there, or on the other hand, his picture is a little more on the masculine side and does stand out quite a bit from the rest.
Each category could go into frames with a title in each frame, which might be a good area to provide a drop shadow. Then the entire poster would be titled Best of 2004.
No offense on the husb pic, he does have more of a strong feel. Do you have more pics displaying musicians, piercings, tats, bikes and things to that nature?
Carla, thank you for that detailed feedback! As far as the guy in the bandana thats my husband and it is his favorite pic! (he no longer has long hair because he is an officer now). I have tried to make posters with one theme and while they are nice, it doesnt show the wide variety I can do and that is something I really need. Maybe I am not doing it right but I need to get across the wide range of possibilities that I can do. Any ideas on that? I just posted the flyer I made for weddings. A little risque maybe with the coloring but attention getting I think. I tried to pull in your guys' thoughts on this one. I do agree about the frames I just hadnt thought of it before I started it. What about a frame for the entire poster? Again, carla, thank you dearly! ~mandy
Ok Mandy, you have tasked me with a tough job. In my view...you should stick to one theme, I have this problem. If you look at my work, I am usually anxious to move on to the next pic and do not provide a solid basis of a particular shoot. Realizing your theme is "Best of 2004", perhaps you could narrow this theme to one particular subject (wedding, children, school pics, sports, etc). Try to keep in mind who your audience is.
Regarding your top right picture, and a couple of the others; remember, white in a photo draws the eye in, so is it possible to crop tighter on the top right pic to remove the sunburst. The other photos that have white or light backgrounds, try using a small frame so the picture does not fade into your poster. I see there is a slight shadow on one, but it does not seem to be strong enough.
Looking at your selection here, I would suggest wedding or portrait. Sorry, but the guy with the bandana should not be included in this poster.
