Yes, that helps a lot! As you can tell, I really had no idea. I'm amazed I even guessed it was the triangle of light on her face. But then again, it is called a triangle and you did make it quite obvious on her face, so I shouldn't take all the credit for getting that right.
Good lesson. I'd never heard of it before.

Dear Tamara, Yes, it's the triangle of light under the eye. My lighting teacher (www.bobbilane.com - she teaches in NYC, very good. I've given her SO many plugs and it was years ago. But she's a great teacher) always said that you should set up your lighting like replicating the sun - never go too low - like going below the horizon and when lighting a face just detach yourself from that person and study exactly how the light's falling. I never use 3 lights - just Main (as this one is) and a lower power fill (not used here) You CAN use a third for hair or background but to me, that starts looking basement of K-martish Photo corner usually. But that's me .Some Photographer's use 6 or 7. I'll leave the complicated stuff to the IRS. I like simplicity. So , a long rambling answer to a short quesion. Hope it heled, Take care, Mark

Wait, so what IS the Rembrandt triangle? I didn't get that from what you've said about this picture? I was wondering if it was the triangle of light under her eye, and then I thought maybe you are supposed to pull together a triangle of lights together to get perfect lighting or something, and then I gave up guessing and thought I should just ask. :)

VERY GOOD Rembrandt lighting Mark, Guess I didn't see you last, but I've noticed that a lot of photographers don't know much about the various types of classic lightings.
Working with lighting on faces is something I really used to LOVE doing. Depends upon the face shape as to what lighting works best... This high ratio lighting also works well on her. Did you use a warm reflector below her, for that under the chin (and 'eyeball ) glow? Nice to see someone who knows this, Lori :)
