There are so many elements in this shot Don and individually they're all good but combined they make one spectacular image. My compliments. Den

Thanks Christian, it was natural sun light that was coming from behind me. This all happened very fast and didn't have much time to change much. I have a couple horizontals that I might work with. Don.

Don:
I took almost the same composition at White Sands when I was there - I almost think I used the same dang Yucca plant...
The trick with White Sands is the same problem with metering on show. Especially in winter the sand actually is a beach color. Even when dry, like snow, the white sand has to be metered seperately...
To adjust in Photoshop I masked the ground and sky seperately (like using a grad filter), and brightened the sand up while boosting the contrast on the sky a little bit.

Before reading your About, I thought the sand was snow. That's easy to explain, given my environment at this time and the natural colour of the sand in "White Sands National Monument". It's such a powerful and unique light condition you were having then. Great exposure, and fine composition too with the yucca set at a 1/3 spot and at the root of a diagonal leading to a second bush on the right. I wonder if you've used fill-in flash ? Or is it natural light on the yucca flower ?

Layer upon layer of beautifully coloured clouds, stacked on top of a mountain range in the far distance. Awesome composition Don - I like your low angle and how the plant reaches to the top of the image. Well seen and taken. Linn
