About Obviously... I waited tll noon to take this shot...
This and the next captures are to discuss 28 mm lenses.

Subject: clock tower of main square of the University of São Paulo.
Built in 1972-3. Projected by the brazilian architect Elizabeth Nobiling in 1953, based on an idea of the italian artist Benedetto Croce.
The portuguese University of Coimbra donated the resources to its structure.
It has 12 plates of 5,50m x 5,00m (6 in each side )showing the science and arts worlds.
The whole structure?s size is 50m x 10m.
More information: http://www.usp.br/gr/torredet.php
and http://www.usp.br/gr/torre.php (sorry, only in portuguese... but you should visit them, the single plates ar very nice).

Taken for the a photographic hunt of treklens website. I made many shots with my Nikon some minutes earlier... but I noticed and my Olympus and the 28mm lens would work better, capturing the whole building.

Neat Image applied to sky in a separated layer.
No other PS but cropping and framing.

All critiques are always wellcome!!!

Although the main subject is centered, this is a beautiful shot w/ the subject taking the center attention as it should. The deep blue and cloud filled sky just adds to the picture.

Congrats,
Chris

Hi Carmem, discussing 28mm lenses, heh? I think the 28mm focal lenght is very useful in this mid range zoom, it enables you to get a wide angle, capturing a landmark such as this entirely. Not too much distortion, but it does not really have the true wide angle feel about it. It's why I prefer a 17-35 mm; and I'm even contemplating a fish eye (something like 8mm to 12 mm) I think it could add something to such a shot, but also has a more limited use. For the mid rage zoom, I'm thinking of something in lines of a 35-70, with a fixed aperture.... Ok. this is besides the point, hier, but I do feel 28mm is something in between a wide angle and a standard lens; Very useful, but not the best of both worlds.

In this shot, however, it works quite well, a very well balanced shot, and I do like the three point perspective here.

Cheers,

Hugo

Dear Carmem,

strong upright format, well done focal lenght choice and great dramatic sky in the back. the off-centering of the clock work well for me.

As cores do céu e a angulação estão otimos..assim como os detalhes esculpidos na pedra.
Concordo que uma imagem mais ampla iria valorizar a obra e também seu trabalho.

abraços amiga.
