The spots are either from a lens badly in need of cleaning, or a sensor in need of cleaning. I understand that it is not unusual for the sensors to need occasional professional cleaning.

What do you think of this... re spot in the sky it looks like it is from my camera body... any ideas how I can get rid of it... I am new to SLR photography

It looks like a fun place to climb! I think this would be improved if you cropped out the sky to just above the clouds on the left. It would move the horizon from the center and put the dunes as the subject rather than have the center of interest divided. It would also also get rid of the spot in the sky.
