About This spectacular marine geyser explodes upwards sometimes as high as 80 ft. above sea level, producing a tremendous sound. This is the reazon for its name, "The Blowhole". The invading ocean wave collides with the air that is drawn down in a pumping action caused by the force of receding waters after the previous spout. For an instant, trapped air and water choke the cave, then the compressed air and water explode through the only exit. This marine geyser is considered as the second highest of the world, after Hawai.

I always find it neat when humans are photographed captivated by a secondary subject, it adds a (redundant) human element into a picture that helps signify our unity and oneness in the face of the sublime.

I think there was an upper level, and if you are sure of your balance, you can lean over the side.

I took a lot of pictures. Like geysers, it is hard to time the eruptions, and after I looked through all of them I liked this one for the motion blur of the water.

Powerful, Very powerful... The slightly higher point of view works well here. Just curious, how did you manage to grab this shot from this high position? Balancing on the railing next to the cliff?

Cheers,

Hugo
