About Just above Chief Joe Dam is this bouy boom to keep floating debry from the dam. That part of the Columbia River from Chief Joe Dam to Grand Coulee Dam is called Rufus Wood Lake. This protective barrier stretches from one side of the river to the other and is patroled daily.
