Dear Joe, No he's not a victim of the big tsunami recently; he lives in a very marginal beach village North of Jakarta. His sad expression was captured when nobody actually looked at him. He lives in poverty.

Splendid portrait, his face and expression are great, very sweet and a bit sad too. I like the way you framed, so one can concentrate on his look, the BW conversion is good, also the light, and the DOF lets stand out her face perfectly. I think you undestand that I like very much this photo ;) Bye, Max

Beautiful portrait of asian kid. He look kind of sad and is he the victim of the tsunami disaster? He is in a very bad condition.
Good Job and well captured of the expression as well! Cheer!

As commented before, his expression makes this photo really interesting. To enhance the way he stares at the camera, I would suggest moving up the whole image, so that his eyes are at a higher level, not as centered as they are now.
