About This swan is ringing for its lunch! Apparently the swans on the moat at Wells have been doing this for many, many years, with the adults teaching their cygnets for generation after generation.

Usually, when the bell rings, someone will come and feed them, but this time no-one came and eventually the swan gave up ringing and swam off in disgust. It was a thrill to see it as I'd heard about it but never been there when it had happened.

Best regards to all,

Chris

Excellent shot, Chris. Great story too. You captured it perfectly in spite of what looks like a difficult lighting area. Great job.

THis is a fabulous shot, I really love the colours and textures in the stonework as well as the lovely swans. Fascinating about - and saw Steve's comment I bet he really thinks he is on my ignore list as I am so far behind with comments LOL

Excellent capture Chris ... is this what they would call a CYGNET RING ??

Sorry, that is probably my worst joke ever - but I couldn't resist ;-)

Hope you like it - Den and Margaret will probably both have me on their ignore list now !

Best wishes,
Steve

Great shot of this unusual event, Chris! The swans are a lot smarter than I've given them credit for!

Chris, it must be an awesome experience to witness the bell ringing! Now there is proof that no animal (nor bird) is stupid and can't be "trained".
Very nice capture, very very nice heartwarming story.
