Tnhis is a great record of this wonderful painting.
You make a very good point about the unnamed unrecognized artists around the world. The world of art criticism simply irritates me anyway, but let me not get started on that.
In many of the non-occidental cultures, the identity of the artist(s) was, and to some extent still is considered irrelevant. Hence, no record tends to be kept of that fact.
As for the flash bounce, Peter's point is very valid but I suspect that there may be some specular reflection from the rest of the painting as well. One way to repair that may be to simply increase the saturation a bit in your favorite photo editor. In the future, you may be able to reduce it slightly, more towards the edges of the frame, by using a polarizer. The trick will be to pre-orient the polarizer before the flash goes off:-)

Lovely recording still ! And i don't bother about the flash bounce here (it was in the middle yes?) as that part contains the altar and some white dressed people .. so the attention of the viewer is drawn to that part, it can be a little brighter ! Peter
