About An aspiring young model who posed for members of the portrait photography night class I'm taking (her mother was a friend of the prof's, and was with her through out). She struck a variety of poses and expressions - haughty, sultry, pouty, langorous - but while I was shooting her I cracked a joke that made her laugh just as I took the picture. The result was this shot, which to me revealed the girl who was the mother's child, not the model posing for strangers.

I had to add the catch light - the eyes weren't well lit at all. I also cropped tightly on the right side to get rid of the dark background which her hair faded into.

Comments and suggestions always welcomed.

Yes Jon, that's exactly where I thought looked best too (by scrolling). I'm pleased that you're not upset by genuine critiiques - some people hate getting anything but "Wow"-t ype comments.

Best wishes, Jonathan

Very expressive - there's no need for portraits to be deadly serious!

Best wishes, Jonathan

PS: I think I would crop a little off the top - stopping just at the edge is a bit arkward and leaving extra space above would make it top-heavy IMHO.

Thanks for your kind comments! I have a few more of her yet to post. It was very interesting working with a live model.

I like this shot although it?s different from a classic pose fro a portrait shot, but lovely expression, petty the other eyed is hidden, superb.Saeed
