About Well , here's the story . I was out attempting to capture a few good shots of Redpolls . Just as I was about to snap the shutter , this little guy decided to get into the action by landing on my head . Imagine trying to recompose a shot , with a bird doing a tap dance on your head . Just as I got things about right , he decided to jump onto my lens, and hop up and down it's length :) I did not even move :) For a grand finale , he then decided to try sitting on my hand and pick at my finger ( which was on the shutter release button ) . I just gave up . As a consolation , this little guy promptly flew over to a nearby branch and took a nap . So , I took his picture instead :)
I decided to call it a day :)

Thanks Dave . I think you are right , as soon as I took his picture , he seemed much happier . Who said a Chickadee can't be entertaining ? :)

Thanks Christine . You're right , Chickadees are usually zooming all over the place . I have quickly discovered that getting a good shot of one is more difficult than it might appear :)

Hi Rob: Not only is that a great picture (DOF, clarity, background, blah, blah!) but the story sounds like something you would see on a National Geographic show...

cheers,

Bill

Great shot, Rob! Love the story, too funny :) I had a chickadee land on my finger while I was trying to photograph a squirrel eating nuts one time. I froze my hand in place where he was landed and tried to move my other hand to my camera (very, very slowly), but within a second he was gone and so was the squirrel. I think I was a 'stop over' while he was looking for a nice tree to go into...lol. Needless to say, I didn't get a photo of either one :)

Well you ended up with a great shot of him, Rob! I guess you just weren't paying him enough attention!
Dave.

Wow, i never knew chickadees were so friendly! Wonderful picture! I love how close you got. They are usually zooming all over so much that i doubt i could catch one on film!

Wow thats funny :) he was a playful little guy, I once had a hawk attack my lens, actually I was using it for defense, I was shooting a parent a baby eating, and she looked up at me and though my lens which I was foucusing right on her she took off straigh for me, I thought wow Im going to get some great closups, before I could click the shutter i saw though my other eye she was not joking, I have the scratches all over my 400mm to show :) Anyway you did get a really nice shot out of it, perfect exposure, great colors and detail, looks very cute sitting there napping....
Take care
Marcus
