Very nice capture and tone. The cropping on the left may be considered distracting, but it may also be what help to catch staff's eye.

Self portraiture is difficult and I know you've been trying different things with it, it takes a lot of self perception not just narcism to pull of genuine emotion, like self direction in a movie. The melancholy feel comes through from the eyes especially. Deserved SC for your efforts Stace, well done. Ian

A very REAL image. It is interesting, after looking at picture for a time, to glance through the comments after cementing my impressions of what draws me to this portrait. This is so emotion charged and I think it draws the same emotions from the person viewing it. But what makes it have life for me is the crop (or framing in camera), the glisten of the lips,eyes,and beads...the single strand of hair that crosses those sad lips. These details make the image like a finely polished older shoe.
You can imagine a wider cropping,no glare on that poutty lip,no strand of hair out of place -
than you have a shiny shoe that has not walked far. But when you look into those expressive round eyes(not clear and bright),you see that she been on a long walk of life.
A great portrait with a perfect melancholic toning.

Nice composition conveys a sense of mood and empathy. But I think the glare off the lips diminishes the drama of the light reflecting off the eyes.

I really liked the lightining and the square, But I think that if you had not croped that eye on left the image would be better. Just an opinion. But the image is clean and very well done. I liked the tone too. Regards.
