This composition is perfect. The lighting is great with the black background. But the weight of the background is perfect, like the "weight of the world". Splendid.

This is an awesome and precious shot.. I love the vast empty background, it gives such a neat feeling of newness. The black representing no past. The light on the baby's face being all things new.. Wonderful work Pat!

Thanks, Louise. I turned almost all the lights in the place off and shot up at the baby...then I adjusted levels and contrast to darken the background a bit further. :)

WOW, this is amazing. What a unique hospital shot. Did you suck the original background out? Or did it just naturally fall to black? I love the untraditional composition with him cropped at the bottom. Works very well for some reason!
