About Today, the 26th of February, 2005, marks the 12th anniversary of the FIRST attack on the World Trade Center on 2/26/93. Some New Yorkers and others didn't like them when they went up (a lot of Parisians weren't too crazy about the Eiffel Tower when it first went up either). I always thought they were beautiful in their design simplicity and "reach for the heavens" look - a great symbol of America at the time. Well it didn't work the first time but they're gone now along with so many innocent people. The replacement "The Freedom Tower" is a sad, defeatist mockery compared to these columns of strength (80% of Americans agreed on a recent MSNBC poll). Sadly, all we have now are memories, photos and films / videos. I loved these towers - they MADE the NYC skyline and were some of the most famous world icons. Sadly, not anymore.

Good shot. I think no matter what they rebuilt there that most americans would not like. Only over time as they "grow" on everyone will we start to like them or of course when they are attacked again im sure the out crys will poor out. Americans only care when something bad is directly affecting them.

Great shot! I still miss seeing the Twin Towers when I head up the "Greenstamp" to Secaucus, NJ! I also could see them when I was heading East on Route 80 when I was heading in from PA. Seeing the Twin Towers "used to be" a highlight to my long days when I am driving my Rig.

Indeed they were beautiful, I think now they are even more famous, what happened will be engraved into millions of people around the world for many years to come. The people who destoryed so many innocent lives, their time is coming if it hasn't already....OK Off my soap box.

It is a lovely shot, beautiful piece of architecture.
