Wow! Excellent shot, the clarity is amazing. It seems you had perfect timing to get that ring of water at its "peak" moment. I even like the seeds still in the lemon, like passengers on a water ride. Not to mention the brilliant colors, well done, into favs~

Dear Dan, What you write about shutter speed and flashes was possibly right in regular SLR cameras. It happened to me with an Asahi Pentax and cost me some rare photos from Kurdistan. I don't know about other didital cameras, but with my Fuji Finepix S7000 I have no trouble with shutter speeds of 1/1000 (the maximum, unless I point the camera at a very bright subject, like the sun.) Please take a look at http://www.usefilm.com/image/708618.html On both flowers on that photo I used a ring-flash with 1/1000 sutter speed and the same holds true for my regular flash. Best regards, Rafi

i realy like the shot, and the idea as well... it's so hard to find the lemon piece that is just 100%, you usualy need to go through a case of lemmons... but other then that... that is a great shot. good work.

wow, this is one of the best in your series. The color contrast is nicly setup. But the way the water creates this almost perfect corona is great.
If I had to do some nitpicking I would have used a slice without cores.

Wow! Dan, your series fantastic. So sharp, clear and beauty... I didn't know you use a flash. I did my pictures without flash, maybe that's was my mistake. I love your photos so much, lovely color and excellent capture. All the best, Lena

I knew that the aperture was very small. Good use of the flash because it is invisible.

Everyone is surprised at the shutter speeds I use but they should not be. Very few cameras can be used with a flash over 1/200th of a sec. The shutter will not sync with the flash which will leave half of your picture black. The stop action occurs because you leave the shutter open at a small aperture and the flash exposes the shot , it is very short burst of light 1/5000th of a second thats what make the shot stop action and freeze motion. The ambient light is not bright enough to effect the shot with the small aperture it just does intense enough.

Your work in macro photography is great. I am surprise you were able to freeze this shot shooting at 1/125. I would have thought you used a higher shutter speed. Very well done.

A stunning image! The colour contrast just grabs your attention, even on the thumbnail. I would have picked a slice of lemon without pips in but that is just a minor thing. The moment of capture is perfect too and I really like the shapes made by the water, very dramatic.
Thanks.
