Well James, I guess in a way I'm from the area, if you consider a 6 hour drive to Tennessee local;-) I take road trips every chance I get, so a 6 hour drive is quite routine for me.

Thanks for the comments Robert and your shot of the summit is great. I don't think I'll be climbing Old Rag though at least not till I get in a little better shape and quit smoking:)I gather you are from around the area?

I like the trees in the foreground and the way the mountain sweeps across the frame. This one might work in b/w as well.

If you are interested, I have a shot from the summit area in my portfolio here, taken last October. The trip to the summit isn't so much a hike as a full body workout, involving steep hiking and even a little rock climbing/scrambling. In my experience it's easily top 5 best hikes in the east, maybe even my personal favorite. The view from Rt. 231, the other side of the mountain and along the valley, is quite imposing and well worth a drive.

Thanks Dottie, No I haven't hiked it. I'm a little out of shape. I hiked down to the Lewis Falls and thought I was going to die coming back up and that was supposedly only a 2 mile hike:)
