About This poem is in Memory of my Mother, who passed away a year ago today. I bought this poem for her several years ago because it sounded just like she was. I just love it. Hope you do also!

"The World's Meanest Mom"

"I must have had the meanest mom in the world. While other kids could skip breakfast, I had to eat cereal, fruit and toast. And she wouldn't let me have cokes and candy for lunch either...had to be something "good for me", like soup and sandwiches.
Being late for dinner wasn't allowed. Going out after dinner without doing the dishes and cleaning the kitchen was another big no! When I did a job that wasn't done the right way, "mean ole mom" had me do it over again with the silly explanation "because one day you will have to work for others and you'll sure have to do the job right for them."
Then there was the phrase, "but mom, all the other kids are wearing it", or "all of the other kids are doing it"...that was like waving a red flag in front of a bull! The answer was always, "Well, my child is not!" When I said that I had the meanest mom in the whole world she would always reply, "good, then I'm doing my job like I'm suppose to do it, and some day you'll understand."
Now here I sit years later watching my children play and grow and hoping I can do a good job of being...
THE WORLD'S MEANEST MOM."

You know George, this comment brought tears to my eyes. Probably because it makes me miss her strictness and everything else.
This is very nice and isn't it funny how we see how things were now?
Thank you, much appreciated, Rona J.

Rona, I want to thank you for sharing your Mom with me. You described my Mom right along with yours. This is the most intimate of all your work because you have opened up your soul to share.

Michael, that is an exceptional complement. Thank you! That is one reason I really enjoy this site. There is a lot of support here and it's amazing how people from all over the world can connect. I love it!
Thank you for taking the time to look and comment. Take care, Rona J.

Thank you Cliff. That pic was taken when she was about 13 years old. I did no editing on it either so I was pretty excited about posting it. Just scanned it from an old photo. I was surprised it came out as well as it did.
The poem is one of my favs also. I think we can all relate to it in some degree.
thanks again, rona

Very Interesting Indeed, The Rest Of U Guys Have Summed Up What I Would Have Posted.
Although I Cannot Relate With A Loss Of A Close Relative, I Must Confess The Emotion Is Clearly Present And Does Convey Onto Those Who Read All These Entries.
This Is Why At Times I Admire UseFilm, More To The Point, The People Who Make It Up.

Well thank you Pat, she is missed but thank goodness for my sisters. We are closer now than ever before and it is nice, but we do miss her and daddy tremendously.
Thank you again...

Sorry for your loss Rona. I lost my father 21 years ago and I understand your pain.

She would be proud of what you have accomplished in the past year and how you have grown as a photographer and a person, by sharing your intimate feelings with thousands of virtually unknown people.

Stay focused and keep showing us what's inside of u.

Love

Pat

John, Im sorry for your loss...
I keep mine in my heart and memories and smiles. We didn't always get along and we had our moments but I never stopped loving her. Yes, i wish she were her now. She never knew I could take pictures...but I think she does now...
God bless you, Rona J.

Joe, thank you so much. Those are very kind words. I thought my mother was beautiful, even though we didn't always get along, never changed how I felt about her. Thank you again, Rona
