About
Manapouri is the second deepest lake in New Zealand, dipping to over 440 metres between Pomona Island and West Arm and contains over 34 islands within the lakes 150 sq metres.
Originally caled Roto-ua (the rainy lake) by early maori, and then Moturau (many islands) the name Manapouri was somehow transposed from ealy maps from Mavora lakes area across to its existing 'location' and the 'miss-naming' stuck.
Great photo Philip. I think the white boarder would have been better as a thin line within the the black boarder as it gets lost in the photo. The heavy cloud / fog gives this photo a good feel and the pampas grass makes a good foreground focal point. This photo works better in b/w than the colour one you showed me and I believe this to be your best imho. Nice work. Regards Greg
