Den,
I think someone was hitching a ride in the rear power unit. It definately going London Bound (left to right). But as it's not a steam train you can't tell can you! But also see my comments to Ian.

Ian,
My son and I rode to this spot on our push-bikes. It's along the canal tow-path about 3 Miles from Newbury town centre. It's probably shorter to get to from the pub at Kintbury. But I've been there several times. We were waiting for a steam train (Earl of Bathurst) to pass (it was 1 1/2 hrs late, and when it did come I was already on my way home. I'll post the pic separately but it's not very good. I'm hoping my son got some better ones.

Hi Neil, where exactly were you when you took this shot? It looks to be a great viewpoint and I quite fancy going there myself and honing my panning skills. Great shot by the way; the timing was spot on.

This shot is much more difficult than meets the eye with a non SLR Neil. The dreaded shutter lag is the problem. You done well here mate. Tell me, is this on a 4 track section. I assume it is the front power car cos of the guy in the cab, but the track camera side of the loco confuses me. Gabby is right. I do like it. Den
