About Had the good fortune of doing a road trip to the high deserts of Joshua Tree National Monument last weekend. Photos were shot just before dusk during the "magic hour" Doesn't seem to matter much where you go these days in California. The rains this year have brought EVERYTHING alive with color. This particular spot is off of interstate 10 about 30 miles outside of Salton Sea, heading into Arizona. Just off of the West enterance to the park, hang a left and look for the color. You can also catch it by doing the entire ride through the park from Yucca Valley. If you always thought the desert was a dry and ugly environment, think again. Take a drive and enjoy the best of what Mother Nature is gifting us with this spring!

David, Thanks for the nice comments on my flower photos. Actually these were taken in the Cottonwood area. As far as Death Valley, I was there in November and I can imagine how beautiful it is right there also. I'm actually on my way to Arizona for 5 days next week to check them out there also. Thanks again.

You sure got the most out of that hour Laurie. I can't decide which I like best.

Excellent image. I love the lighting. I'll have to make a trip out to Joshua Tree soon. Too bad it's supposed to rain again this weekend, otherwise I would go. The southern part of the park is the best right now with wildflowers, especially the Cottonwood Canyon area. The cactus in the high desert area should start to bloom here soon. Have you been out to Death Valley National Park yet? I hear this year is one of the best for wildflowers in a long time.

What a totally *delightful* photograph with a multitude of colorful, but subtle flowers and colors that look so beautiful together. Very nicely framed and labeled as well. An excellent photo in every way!
