About These caterpillers migrate in the fall and are often seen crossing roadways. Some say you can predict the winter by how wide the middle band is. I did find one this year that had almost no band at all. That area had the lightest winter snow. So maybe thick band heavy snow thin band light snow. Just more modern lore.
