David,
I've still got quite a lot of training to complete to be allowed to fly the Auster on my own.
I'm doing that training from Old Sarum airfield, and I have seen the Old Cathedral and Castle ruins from the air but as it's a rather critical time in the flight I haven't had the chance to take photos there.
I have however taken some photos of the "New" Cathedral in the city itself. Not great because I had some problems with misting on the lens causing the autofocus to delay, this was one of the better ones:

Nice unusual perspective on the castle, very interesting. If you're flying in the area of salisbury any time the ruins of a castle called 'old sarum' (meaning old salisbury) are around there, conveniently near an airfield too... I don't know if it'll look this dramatic from the air though. David
