Hi David,
thanks a lot for the constructive feedback.
no, the landscape is real... just worked on the layer side, no adding of extra elements.
silver plate is relative... if the visitors had to climb up the hills fist ;-)
take care,
thilo

Hi Andre,
no, I don't think there were battles in the past. it's a bit difficult fro troops to get up there...
behind, there is a steep passage downwards with the cross from one of my recent pictures (http://www.usefilm.com/image/752190.html).
thanks for the feedback,
thilo

Yes I agree Thilo, it must be a fabulous place to live :-)
Wonderful work with the colours, they stand out very well without going over the top. The main thing is the landscape which is absolutely awesome !
Great photograph :-)
Best wishes, Steve

Another impressive landscape Thilo. Was this area ever the scene of some major 18h century battle?
The shot also makes me wonder what's on the other side of that hill? Andre

looks great! Very good work, as always!
I'm not sure if I wanted to live there being presented on a silver plate.
Did you do any copy/paste work on the landscape itself or was it really like that?

Hey Carsten,
oh okay, condensation trails ;-) no wonder the dictionary doesn't find that abbreviation.
as for the ISO: Sorry, this must be ISO 200. The lowest value for D70, btw. "Grain" is kind of intended here... let's say it that way: It would be very easy to get rid of the mild artificial look ;-)
anway, thanks a lot for the in-depth feedback!

I think you chose the right camera position and crop. A bit distracting the condensation trails (contrails -> Kondensstreifen), draw the atmosphere more into the profane. But what I dont get is the choice of ISO 400 here, why didn`t you chose ISO 100 if you plan PS work afterwards... Sometimes tonal quality looks stressed with high ISO after PS fiddling ;-)

I don't think there is anything wrong with the composition (nor do I have an alternative to suggest), it just has a comical quality for those reasons somehow. Contrails are the trails you see after jet airplanes.

hi stefan,
I'm not sure what you mean with "contrails".
anyway, thanks for the honest feedback. I don't think there are awfully much alternatives to make this shot. at least, if you don't have 10mm or so. offcentering the house is no suitable alternative to me. any idea?

The central symmetry and the tiny house (well, at least from this distance) makes a comical impression on me. With that in mind, I am not sure what to think of all the contrails, they seem to be the only disorderly element here.
