in this case, the BW has more impact. The lines, perspective and textures are so much more importaint than the colours. The red is a cool but not unnecessary touch. The composition makes this strong on its own.

To me this seems a very powerful shot.. Maybe its cause of the dark shadows in the stairs or the gloomy clouds above.
It's as if someone is calling for help somewhere beyond, and the tools for help are right in your reach... Will you make it in time?? Great shot, makes me really think ;)
