You can really see this from his point of view. The shadows accentuate the locked-in feel and his half-sad/half-"not again" expression adds meaning to the image.

Well pretty blunt, but thanks, I liked the shadows to me, cast a cell over the dog, the lack of light through the gate shows he is trapped. Its just a photograph.
