Dear Maurizio - first, no need to apologize for a seemingly critical comment, I welcome that and in fact try to encourage it :-) For this flower, the exposure is actually quite good (I metered the incident light in this case). The choice of tones is a tribute to a friend of mine who uses this range of grays very effectively. It is not what I choose normally for my own work, but in this case I thought it would enhance the subtle textures of the petals.

the details in the flowers are really great here, it makes it a pleasant view. Just my very poor opinion, and please take it like that...: did you think about giving a stop more exposure in order to give the flower more brightness? I'm just curious to read what you think... Thanks from now Maurizio

I like that you have included the dark area in the bottom, it makes a fine composition

Stefan this is very nice, I like the minimal depth of field, and the diagonal composition, the focus is very clear, I think you can get away with all of that black in the background, without a tighter crop, because there's nothing to focus on and the eye is continually led back to the flower. Good job of focusing the attention on the flower. Linda
