Taran, at first I thought that you had mistakenly added your comment to the wrong image and then I more carefuly studied the shot and I saw what you were talking about. You must be referring to the out of focus areas to the right and left of the flower. Unless there is something wrong with my PS settings, the picture is totally B&W, I completely desaturated it! I agree with you, that it looks like the flower is flanked by subtle color areas. It may be because of the contrast between the subject being in sharp focus and the background being blurred. Thanks for the comment.

Sal, I really love the way you have selectively colored this piece, it is almost the reverse of what I do, which is make a vignetted selection and washout the colors on the edge of the frame, in this case it seems you have done the opposite and I really like the effect. cheers
