Thanks for you kind comment! I think the mom is very tired by now. She's looking thin and like she's being run ragged. The babies were back again today and they seem to be doing pretty well feeding themselves now, although I?m sure they would prefer to be taken care of by mom. :)

Excellent shot Laurie... Perfectly timed to get the wide open beak. Love the expression on the mums face - looks fed up, protective and alert all at once.
I guess this is a difficult time for bird parents, having to be out all the time looking for the vast food requirements of growing chicks while at the same time trying to guard them from harm and still maintaing enough time to feed themselves... shame this series has ended....

Hi Laurie! This is an excellent bird photo!This has alot of interest. The grass the bush the plant and the redwood mulch all give some nice color to this photo!Teriffic capture with the young bird waiting to feed!

Oh Laurie, this is beautiful once again, and it's nice to get to see mom too...She's on guard here....I like the grass in the foreground and the dynamics happening in this cleverly composed image....I'm so glad you got these pictures and I hate to see this series end...I'm looking forward to your next ones... Thanks Christine! I think their mom was pretty tired at this point. And she probably was hoping they would find their own food. The babies seemed quite happy having mom take care of them though!

Thanks so much! I really lucked out with these guys. The two babies were just hopping around in our yard with their mother closely watching of course. I wasn't sure if any of them were going to come out since I had to shoot through glass.

your baby mockers series is wonderful, Laurie. I love the little mouth open on this one, with the mamma bird standing patiently beside it (probably thinking "go get your own food, you're old enough now!"). very nice.
