Wonderful shot, Mark. I love how sharp and crisp the Water Tower is.
I assume you were just north of the Tower and the building to the right (in the background) is the Park Hyatt?
For some reason, I always stopped just south of the tower. Fantastic sharp image of the water tower. Congratulations.

WOW! This brings back old memories.... Back in 1962 I hitchhiked to Chicago, just 17 and stayed in Pacific Garden Mission (homeless) before going into the Army in Feb 1963. I remember seeing this...
I've got to try some long exposure shots... Thsi is great...

Thanks for the kind comment, Riny. Although I would like to think I have steady hands, 8 seconds would be a bit much for me on my best day. I had a tripod set up and had to guard it against getting bumped by the many people walking around. It was quite busy for 11 at night.

A stunning nightscape you have shot here! I love how the tower stands out. The star effect is from the aperature being stopped down, it is a natural effect.

Great nightime composition of the Watertower Mark...The tower is crystal clear and I like the traffic zooming around the base
looks like you won't need much practice at the long exposure shots

A beautiful night shot, Mark! The exposure time worked perfectly for the moving lights and you've got great DOF and clarity. I believe the effect on the lights is because of the small aperture. Very well done! Dave.
